As of Saturday 31 August, the official deadline for those cards set to void, savvy shoppers may be shocked to discover that their points have completely vanished.

This is because Clubcard vouchers issued in August 2022 need to be used by the end of this month.

However, Martin Lewis' website has published help for those looking to extend this time frame with one very easy hack.

The site claims that they have even tried the trick and it has worked for them.

Bargain-buyers should head to their Tesco Clubcard Rewards page and either make a small purchase or donate to one of its partner charities.

Hopefully, fans of the supermarket giant can then swap their points for vouchers, which should have an expiration date of the next two years.

Whilst there is no minimum spend, those using a Clubcard to get the most from their pennies should look for cheap purchases.

One recommendation is a 50p restaurant voucher which would be worth £1 at a chosen venue.

There are over 100 reward partners to choose from including PizzaExpress and Zizzi.

Those using Tesco mobile services can even swap vouchers for money off their next bill.

Every 150 points gained in vouchers can be exchanged to the value of £1.50.

Remember to act before midnight on Saturday 31 August if you are hoping to exploit this trick.

It comes as Tesco revealed it was axing a popular service at 40 stores across the UK.

Across the various sites, the supermarket giant has announced it will be going cashless at their cafes.

Shoppers will be able to order their food and drink options on a digital self-service screen.

Sites include Oldham, Sheerness, Newmarket and Ashford.

It seems the moves has been made in an attempt to cut down queue times so customers have longer to enjoy their time in store.

Supermarket loyalty schemes - which has one?

MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop.

Here we round up what saving programmes you'll find at the big brands.

  • Iceland: Unlike other stores, you don't collect points with the Iceland Bonus Card. Instead, you load it up with money and Iceland will give you £1 for every £20 you save.
  • Lidl Plus: Lidl customers don't collect points when they shop, and are instead rewarded with personalised vouchers that gives them money off at the till.
  • Morrisons: The My Morrisons: Make Good Things Happen replaces the More Card and rewards customers with personalised money off vouchers via the app.
  • Sainsbury's: While Sainsbury's doesn't have a personal scheme, it does own the Nectar card which can also be used in Argos, eBay and other shops. You need 200 Nectar points to save up £1 to spend on your card. You need to spend at least £1 to get one Nectar point.
  • Tesco: Tesco Clubcard has over 17million members in the UK alone. You use it each time you shop and build up points that can be turned into vouchers - 150 points gets you a £1.50 voucher. Here you need to spend £1 in Tesco to get one point.
  • Waitrose: myWaitrose also doesn't allow you to collect points but instead you'll get access to free hot drinks, and discounts off certain brands in store.
