  • Yesterday's headlines

There was plenty of news coming out of Old Trafford yesterday, here's a look at some of the biggest headlines from Tuesday's business...

    • Man Utd and Chelsea considering swap deal including Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling

    • Juventus remain interested in Jadon Sancho
  • Ferdinand slams McTominay exit

Rio Ferdinand has hit out at his former club for agreeing to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli.

McTominay is on the brink of sealing a £25m switch to thr Italian giants.

But Ferdinand thinks that the Scot's consistency will be missed at Old Trafford.

He told his show: "It really doesn’t sit well with me. To replace him you’re going to have to spend £30m or £40m and give him £150,000 a week probably.

"It’s not going to be cheap and it’s a gamble, you don’t know what you’re going to get, whereas with McTominay you know what you’re getting.

"He might not always be a 9/10, but invariably he’s a solid 7/10 and sometimes he will be an 8/10 and get you a goal."

  • PHIL THOMAS: United finally replace Roy Keane

Nearly two decades have passed since Roy Keane led Manchester United into battle for the final time.

It left a gap in the engine room that the Red Devils have never really come close to filling in the 19 years that have followed.

Many tried and some managed it in flashes and, although the trophies still rolled in for a time, there was no snarling, bring-it-on warrior prowling the midfield.

Until now… until the imminent capture of a man who views a 50-50 challenge like a starving Labrador staring at a side of ham.

For three months, United have licked their own lips at the prospect of a midfield marshalled by Uruguayan tough guy Manuel Ugarte.

Finally, it appears, they are getting their man.

  • Rooney's Plymouth misery

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney continues to have a tough time of it as the Plymouth Argyle manager.

Rooney's Argyle took on former Man Utd teammate Tom Cleverley's Watford in the Carabao Cup this evening.

It was Watford that came out on top with a 2-0 victory, knowing Plymouth out of the competition in the second round.

A chorus of "sacked in the morning" could be heard from the stands after the second goal went in.

"I had an old United kit, from when they won the last FA Cup. I was at the final in 2007.

"If two or three of the kids could be inspired, then that's all I was trying to do. Purely, that's how I felt at the time.
